(VOVWORLD) - Da Nang city is pushing forward with its program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses, aiming to complete the initiative before September 2, 2025. Nearly 1,000 houses occupied by poor or near-poor households are currently in a state of disrepair.

The People’s Committee of Hoa Tien commune, Hoa Vang district, has set up volunteer teams to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses, drawing strong participation from local organizations, businesses, and residents.
Ho Thi Lai, Vice Chairwoman of the Hoa Tien commune People's Committee, said: “We have mobilized volunteer teams to assist families in need. This effort has received enthusiastic support from the community and is spreading widely. We are striving to hand over new houses by May.”
Thanks to the support of local authorities, organizations, and donors, many disadvantaged households in Hoa Tien commune have received financial aid to rebuild or repair their home.
Nguyen Van Viet, a resident of Nam Son village, said: “I’ve lived alone since my parents passed away. Thanks to the government’s support, I now have a sturdy house. This is a great encouragement for me to move forward in life.”

Similarly, Ms. Le Thi Tuan of Yen Ne 2 village, expressed relief after receiving assistance: “I’m old and frequently sick, so I can no longer work. The government’s help in rebuilding my home means I no longer have to worry about the rainy season.”
As of March 25, the Da Nang Fund for Eliminating Temporary and Dilapidated Houses had received nearly 240,000 USD in donations.
Tran Thi Man, Vice Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Da Nang city, said: “According to the city’s schedule, all temporary and dilapidated houses must be removed by September 2. Many families are thrilled to receive support for building or repairing their home. This is a meaningful initiative that contributes to ensuring social security in Da Nang.”
Government employees, armed forces personnel, and workers in Da Nang have donated one day’s salary each. Businesses, religious organizations, and philanthropists continue to contribute voluntarily to help the disadvantaged live a better life.
