(VOVWORLD) - The world has entered the 4th Industrial Revolution with virtual reality technology, the Internet of Things, AI, and big data affecting all social and economic aspects. The Vietnamese Ministry of Information and Communications has designed a national digital transformation project to help administrative agencies and businesses catch up with the global trend.
The project has 3 phases: from 2020 to 2022 to speed up digitization in administrative agencies, businesses, and social and industrial sectors; from 2023 to 2025 to enhance digitization to raise labor productivity, create new momentum for growth, and increase competitiveness; and from 2026 to 2030 to develop a comprehensive digital economy and society.
Vietnam considers digital transformation inevitable in the 4th Industrial Revolution. The COVID-19 pandemic has forced many businesses to seek digital solutions for survival.
Tran Thi Van Hoa, Deputy Rector of the National Economics University, said: “It’s not easy to change a business model, operation method, and service provision as well as customers’ habits. Many small and medium enterprises and even international groups have paid a big price for wrong decisions.”
Nguyen Thy Nga, an expert with the organization V-Startup, said digital transformation will greatly benefit Vietnamese businesses by reducing management expenses, increasing transparency and efficiency, and maximizing productivity and competitiveness.
“Under the national digital transformation project until 2030, all of us should become more aware of data. Recently many Vietnamese have lost data and other resources while using international apps and services. It’s because we have not paid due attention to the important issue of information and data security. During the digitization process, we need to change our mindset and prepare to face new challenges,” Nga said.
The market has many technological services like e-commerce, e-marketing, virtual events, online learning, online meetings, and exhibitions, and distance monitoring. It requires businesses to develop clear strategies and roadmaps with specific business targets, management mechanisms, and flexible solutions.
