HCM City has provided hundreds of tons of essential goods and food to people during social distancing. Supermarkets operated by MM Mega Market Vietnam Company, the Saigon Co.op, and the Sai Gon Trading Company (Satra) have increased their inventories of essential goods and fresh foods to 400% to ensure sufficient supplies of goods at stable prices.
Some businesses have made changes to ensure quick delivery. For example, previously, Satra stockpiled fruits, vegetables, meat, fish and eggs in one place and then distributed them to its 180 stores and 3 super markets. Now all the food is delivered directly to the stores and supermarkets.
Pham Thi Van, Head of Satra’s Retail Network Management Board, said, 'There are 3 to 4 rounds of delivery of fresh foods to stores and supermarkets each day. Other essential goods will be delivered from warehouse to stores. Supermarkets goods go from warehouses to the shelves.’

Under Directive 16 on social distancing, e-transaction floors and mobile stalls set up in several districts are selling goods at stable prices. They provide farm produce at lower or equivalent prices under the price stabilization program of the local Department of Industry and Trade. Aeon supermarket has opened mobile stalls in several districts to sell fresh vegetables and fruits. Many other businesses have also set up mobile stalls in residential areas.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade has instructed HCM City to set up goods transit points in the Thu Duc wholesale market and other wholesale markets to ensure health safety. The Ministry is working with localities to resolve problems in goods transportation to prevent any disruption of the goods supply chain.
