Intellectuals and representatives from 50 corporations and businesses contributed their ideas at the dialogue in response to Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc’s call for a shared effort to realize President Ho Chi Minh’s wish of a strong, prosperous Vietnam and the 13th National Party Congress’s resolution to raise Vietnam to stand side by side with world powers in 2045.
Truong Gia Binh, Chairman of the FPT and Head of Private Economic Development Research under the Prime Minister’s Advisory Council for Administrative Procedure Reform, said that more than ever Vietnamese people must be determined to make Vietnam a strong, prosperous nation. It should be the aspiration of the whole nation, not of an individual. It will require greater trust between the government and businesses.
“Businesses expect the government to issue macro-policies and the businesses will carry on with specific tasks. We expect government policies that neither control nor monitor businesses, but simply support our ideas. Initiatives that benefit the nation, the people, and the economy should be encouraged,” Mr. Binh said.

Doctor Do Thien Anh Tuan, a Fulbright lecturer, said Vietnam has one of the world’s fastest growth rates at 7% per year. If it can maintain this growth rate, Vietnam can attain a high national per capita income.
“The government plays a very important role in building, promoting, and supporting growth through policies and working with people. I believe Vietnam will see many more businesspeople who are outstanding leaders who dare to think and do for the nation and the people with a strong sense of responsibility, dignity, and conscience,” said Tuan.
Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, Chairwoman of the Sovico Group, General Director of Vietjet Air, and Vice Chairwoman of HDBank, said Dialogue 2045 has inspired businesspeople and intellectuals nationwide. It has famed the desire to make Vietnam a developed high-income country by 2045, when Vietnam will celebrate its 100th founding anniversary. It’s a big challenge, but Vietnam has resources, foundation, and motivation.
Ms. Thao said private businesses should adopt an innovative mind while the government from the central to the local level ensures a level playing field.
“We expect the government to invest more in the private economic sector to help businesses develop into strong private corporations bearing a national trademark while helping small and medium-size enterprises and agricultural startups to prosper,” Thao said.

Do Minh Phu, Chairman of the Board of Directors of TPBank and Chairman of the Founding Council of the DOJI Group, says the Party and State have promoted the role of the private economic sector. The Ministry of Planning and Investment’s 2019 report showed that the private sector contributed 42% of GDP and 30% of the state budget. The private sector generates 85% of all employment. It’s predicted to contribute 60% of GDP in 2030.
“We want the Prime Minister, government, and ministries to create the best possible conditions for businesses to nurture and promote the desire to surmount all difficulties and realize the goal of a strong and prosperous Vietnam in 2045, when Vietnam will celebrate its 100th founding anniversary,” Mr. Phu said.
Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc called on businesses to work together to make Vietnam a powerful nation, where intellectuals and other talented people have opportunities to contribute their skills and prosper.
