(VOVWORLD) - Guruwalk, a walking tours website, has included Hanoi, Hoi An, and Ho Chi Minh City in its list of the world’s 100 best walking cities. This has made Hanoi a favorite tourist destination for the coming National Reunification Day (April 30th) and May Day holiday.

Hanoi is a melting-pot of age-old history, culture, and beauty. It has architectural works from the French colonial period and busy wet markets. In the heart of the capital is Hoan Kiem Lake and the Old Quarter, where visitors can lose themselves in the maze of the past.
Vo Thanh Duy, a resident in Ho Chi Minh City, said: “I plan to visit Hanoi during the coming 5-day holiday. I’ll have plenty of time to explore the capital, its culture, and life of Hanoi. My family will visit national relic sites – Hoa Lo Prison and President Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum.”
In Hanoi, there are multiple means of transportation – motorbikes, taxis, cyclos, and buses – but walking will provide visitors the most interesting experiences as they wander down narrow alleys, linger in front of grand architectural works, and pause to enjoy delicious street food.
Le Minh Phuong, who lives in Nha Trang, said: “I’ve never been to Hanoi before. During the 5-day holiday I’ll explore the capital, enjoy the local food, and visit Hanoi’s historical relic sites and scenic spots.”
The Hanoi Department of Tourism has directed businesses, organizations, and service providers to ensure the safety of tourists, make public their prices, and not inflate their prices during the holiday.
Hanoi expects to welcome about 900,000 visitors during the upcoming holiday.
