Helping the poor – a beautiful tradition of Vietnam
(VOVWORLD) - Activities are taking place across Vietnam in response to the national campaign “Nation joins hands to support the poor” and “Month for the poor 2019” which will until November 11.

Statistics from the Vietnam Fatherland Front’s Central Committee reveal that some 100 organizations, individuals, and businesses have made donations to the poor totalling. According to the Ministry of Information and Communications, 200,000 USD has been donated via text message to the national humanitarian phone portal at 1408.
The Fund for the Poor of Hanoi received over 300,000 USD from organisations and individuals at a ceremony held in Hanoi on Tuesday to launch the Month for the Poor.
The Vietnam Fatherland Front’s Committee in Kon Tum province launched a similar event on Wednesday at which nearly 400,000 USD was pledged to the provincial “For the Poor” fund. Luu Duy Khanh, the Committee’s Vice President, said: "The provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee will deliver all donations we have received to the poor. We’ll also do our best to promote their education and help them find ways to escape poverty and stop relying on support from the community and State. Getting out of poverty is the best way for them to pay it forward."
Similar events were held in Can Tho and Long An province on Wednesday. Scholarships and more than 200 bicycles were given to children living in poverty in Long An province to encourage them to continue their studies for a better future.
On this occasion, Dak Nong province set a plan to help poor households build new homes. Before the end of this year, Dak Nong province will provide poor households with nearly 800,000 USD to help build nearly 300 new houses. The money will come from the provincial budget or preferential loans.
