The Hue festival will be held from June 25 to June 30 with the theme “Hue cultural heritage with integration and development.” It will gather art troupes from Hue and many other countries who will perform at the “Opening Festival”, a street carnival called “Colors of Culture”, an Ao Dai (Vietnamese traditional long dress) festival, and a performance of Trinh Cong Son music.

In anticipation of opening day, Hue city has been beautifully decorated with flowers, flags, colored lights and banners. 5 large stages have been set up at Ngo Mon square and along the Huong river. This year, the festival will continue all year round and its activities will be held in multiple public places to increase interaction between artists, tourists, and locals.

Senior Lieutenant Colonel Pham Trung Chinh, Deputy Police Chief of Hue city, says forces have been deployed to ensure security and prevent fires at accommodation and event venues.

Mr. Chinh said: "We will make the city clean and prepare thoroughly to make the festival a success. The local police force will play the key role but we urge the public to help ensure security and order during the festival."

Local travel companies have created new tourist products around the festival’s activities. The local Tourism Department and Health Department have organized training courses on food safety for the staff of hotels and restaurants and have set up teams to inspect accommodations. Nguyen Van Phuc, Director of Thua Thien-Hue province’s Department of Tourism, said that from June 24 to June 27, hotels in the city center are fully booked.
