The Ministry of Science and Technology’s General Department of Standards, Metrology, and Quality reported that last year Vietnam’s national quality infrastructure improved significantly. Vietnam’s national standards system has approximately 13,000 criteria, more than 60% of which are correlated with international standards.
Nguyen Hoang Linh, Deputy Director of the General Department of Standards, Metrology, and Quality, said laws on metrology and quality have been improved to meet social development.
“We are building a standardization strategy for the 2021-2025 period with a vision to 2030. We have strengthened national metrology activities and the legal framework for product quality management,” Linh said.
The state inspection procedure for imported products processed 88,000 applications last year and helped businesses save millions of USD and improve their competitiveness.
Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Le Xuan Dinh stressed the need to revise the legal framework on product quality, standards, and technical regulations in line with new generation Free Trade Agreements and take advantage of the 4th Industrial Revolution to improve the quality of Vietnamese products.
