During the 4th wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, Vietnamese people inside and outside the country have continued to promote a spirit of unity, mutual support, trust, and support in pandemic prevention and control and socio-economic development. Authorities at all levels, agencies, organizations, and frontline forces have actively engaged in the work. The COVID-19 Vaccine Fund has received social support.

Active pandemic preparation

Although Vietnam has continued to draw on experience gained in containing the three previous pandemic waves, the Party Politburo has asked the political system to focus all its resources on fighting the pandemic.

The whole system must prepare scenarios to quickly respond to any development and not be subjective or negligent. Leaders at all levels are asked to closely monitor and flexibly manage the situation, particularly in localities densely populated localities, industrial parks, and epicenters, to prevent the virus from spreading in the community.

In order to speed up the purchase and administration of vaccines, the Politburo has removed legal obstacles to mobilizing social resources for the COVID-19 Vaccine Fund, has encouraged social support, and is considering allowing qualified organizations and individuals to purchase and provide vaccines.

Vaccination will prioritize frontline workers, people in high-risk areas, and workers at industrial parks. The vaccination of children is being studied.

The Politburo aims to build a vaccination program that will quickly achieve community immunity.

Mechanisms and policies to promote the development of home-grown vaccines are being worked out, while international cooperation in pandemic prevention and fair access to vaccines is being expanded.

Uninterrupted production

The Politburo has called for reduced budget spending to reserve resources for pandemic prevention and control. Agencies must concentrate on improving mechanisms to help businesses maintain production and trade to avoid trade disruptions.

The Politburo wants to pilot allowing foreign tourists with digital health passports to enter Vietnamese tourist sites where the pandemic has been contained, such as Phu Quoc island and Kien Giang province.

Leaders of localities and sectors are asked to take steps to support the distribution of agricultural products from epidemic-hit localities. Preventive measures should be strengthened to prevent diseases in agricultural production areas.

After 3 waves of COVID-19, Vietnam has gotten better at preventing community infections and is having good results in combining pandemic prevention and economic development.
