Can Tho city adopted a plan for safe production and service after lifting social distancing rule on last Friday. Tran Viet Truong, Chairman of the Can Tho municipal People’s Committee, said the plan gives businesses additional options to adjust their production toward more sustainable and active models that ensure workers’ physical and mental health. Functional administrative agencies have prepared to help local businesses restore their activities.

Ho Chi Minh City plans to reopen its economy allowing local businesses to resume their operation. Local authorities will work with banks to issue incentive policies for businesses including reducing interest rates and offering loan deferrals.

Le Hoa Binh, Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City’s People’s Committee, said the city has developed 8 sets of safety criteria for sectors to pilot in District 7, Cu Chi district, Can Gio district, and the High-tech Zone in Thu Duc city.

“We have introduced the sets of safety criteria for businesses as they resume production.  They will record and evaluate their safety conditions using a software app. Functional agencies will conduct random oversight and monitoring,” said Binh.

Ho Chi Minh City has made pandemic prevention and control measures the top priority, but as the pandemic is being contained, the economy will gradually reopen.

Hanoi’s authorities have allowed certain services in the city to resume beginning at 6am on Tuesday. Stores providing essential goods and services are allowed to open, along with traditional markets, shopping centers, stores selling electronics, home appliances, stationery, textbooks, and school supplies, and repair shops and in-door hair salons. Restaurants and other food and drink establishments are permitted to reopen for delivery only and must close before 9pm every day.

Under the new measures, government agencies and departments, companies, and corporations must arrange for half of their staff to work online and half in the office.

Motorbike delivery services, including those that use ride-hailing apps, may operate from 9am to 10pm, but drivers must be vaccinated, make a daily health declaration, and strictly observe all COVID-19 prevention and control regulations.

Other localities are also upholding the principle “safety first” as they resume their economic activities.
