(VOVWORLD) - Lunar New Year 2022 is nearly here. Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, localities are takings steps to ensure that everyone has a happy New Year, even social beneficiaries and poor people.

Hanoi Federation of Labor gave 10,000 gifts, each worth 44 USD, to especially disadvantaged workers, and 14 USD to workers with social insurance at enterprises, private organizations, and state agencies.
Le Dinh Hung, Vice Chairman of Hanoi Federation of Labor, said: “We have given gifts to certain workers, some of whom will be on duty during Tet. We plan to spend 8.8 million USD to ease workers’ burden during Tet.”
Ho Chi Minh City has reserved 39.5 million USD to help orphans whose parents died of COVID-19 and relatives of frontline workers who died fighting COVID-19. 987,000 workers in Ho Chi Minh City will receive 14 USD each under a program of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor.
Da Nang will spend 3.3 million USD on Tet gifts for social beneficiaries and poor people. About 20,000 social beneficiaries are eligible to receive a Tet gift from the President. Quang Nam province has allocated 3 million USD for Tet gifts.
Tran Anh Tuan, Vice Chairman of the Quang Nam provincial People’s Committee, said: “Caring for poor and ethnic minority people is am important task. Besides gifts from the President and the local budget, we have encouraged businesses and individuals to contribute to programs that give Tet gifts to poor people.”
