The 4 restaurants in Vietnam receiving a Michelin star were Anan Saigon restaurant in Ho Chi Minh City, and GIA, Hibana by Koki, and Tam Vi restaurant in Hanoi.

Anan Saigon’s Vietnamese-American chef Peter Cuong Franklin applies modern cooking techniques to street food recipes to create enticing flavors. Anan Saigon was named Vietnam's best restaurant in 2021 and 39th in Asia by the website theworlds50best.com on its 'Asia's 50 Best Restaurants' list.

GIA, run by chef Sam Tran, was recognized for a menu that changes with the seasons and is inspired by Vietnam’s culinary heritage. Sam Tran received a Michelin Young Chef Award, which recognizes young chefs whose exceptional talent and great potential impressed the Michelin inspectors.

Hibana by Koki delivers a theatrical experience at a 14-seat counter in the basement of the Capella Hotel, with chef Hiroshi Yamaguchi skillfully and precisely cooking steppanyaki dishes rich in complex flavors.

Tam Vi is a vintage tea house that feels distinctly northern Vietnamese with its nostalgic collection of traditional furniture and hand-written calligraphy. It serves mostly northern Vietnamese dishes with some central and southern options.

70 other eateries (32 in Hanoi and 38 in HCM City) were selected by the Michelin Guide Hanoi and HCM City 2023 as Michelin Selected restaurants.

Among the 70 were Phở Tiến (Tien’s noodle soup), Quán Ăn Ngon (Delicious restaurant), Bánh Cuốn Bà Xuân (Mrs. Xuan’s wet rice paper rolls), Bún Chả Obama (Obama’s grilled pork noodle), and Chả cá Anh Vũ (Anh Vu’s grilled fish).

In addition to recommending quality restaurants, the Michelin Guide also highlights talented individuals who contribute to enhancing the gastronomic experience.

29 establishments in Hanoi and HCM City were awarded a Bib Gourmand (Inspectors’ Favorites for Quality Cooking at Moderate Prices).

The Bib Gourmand award highlights restaurants within the Michelin Guide selection that stand out for value-for-money. Of the 29 Bib Gourmand establishments, more than half sell street food, reflecting the popularity of street food in Vietnamese culture.  1946 Cửa Bắc (North Gate 1946), Chả cá Thăng Long (Thang Long grilled fish), Phở bò Ấu Triệu (Au Trieu beef noodle soup), and Miến gà Kỳ Đồng (Ky Dong chicken vermicelli) are 4 of the restaurants on the list. These restaurants have been widely recommended on tourism websites in Vietnam and overseas. Being recognized by Michelin will increase their popularity.

The Michelin Guide recognition of the chefs and other people working in Vietnam’s culinary industry will boost the interest of culinary tourists around the world.
