Multiple movements to pay gratitude to and care for families of war invalids, martyrs and revolutionary contributors have been held to uphold the Vietnamese tradition "Drink the water, remember its source".

The State and the community have mobilized a great source of capital to implement practical programs to care for social beneficiaries.

Quang Ninh province has about 55,000 revolutionary contributors. On top of the Party and State’s policies, the province has promulgated its own policies to care for the lives of local social beneficiaries. The province has provided educational funding for children of martyrs and seriously wounded soldiers and annual financial support for national contributors.

Quang Ninh is the first locality in Vietnam to complete a project to provide revolutionary contributors with housing. Since 2013, 10,000 families have benefited from the policy.

On the occasion of the 75th War Invalids and Martyrs' Day, the province presented gifts worth more than 1.1 million USD to more than 17,400 policy beneficiaries.

Binh Duong province spends nearly 570,000 USD each month in subsidy for 7,400 revolutionary beneficiaries.

Along with the subsidies, every year on the occasion of the traditional New Year and the War Invalids and Martyrs' Day, Binh Duong presents gifts to social policy beneficiaries and national contributors, organizes free medical examination and treatment for them, and builds and repairs houses of gratitude.

As a result, local revolutionary contributors  have a living standard equal to or higher than the average standard of other local people.

In recent years, Tra Vinh province has built several houses of gratitude, raised funds, cared for Heroic Mothers, sponsored children of martyrs and wounded soldiers, as well as provided capital, seedlings, and farming techniques for the people to develop production and increase income.

Thach Sieng, a policy beneficiary in Tra Vinh, said, “I joined the revolution, so did my father and brother and they laid down their lives for the homeland. My family received 2,200 dollars to build a house. Not only my family, but all others who made contributions to the revolution in the locality are funded to improve their lives.”

At a ceremony to mark the 75th War Invalids and Martyrs Day last Sunday, President Nguyen Xuan Phuc called on the entire political system, organizations, and communities to join efforts to take better care of national contributors.
