Tien Yen is the land of ancient Vietnamese people being home to 17 ethnic groups, including the Kinh, Tay, San Chi, San Diu, and Dao, so the region boasts a treasure trove of cultural resources. Pham Van Hoai, Vice Chairman of the Tien Yen District People’s Committee said plans are in place to capitalize on these local advantages to boost tourism, especially community tourism.
“We have carried out community tourism projects with each ethnic group, including the San Diu, San Chi, Dao, and Tay. We have four projects on cultural preservation and promotion of cultural heritage. We have also invested in infrastructure and main transportation routes to connect to tourist destinations, and exert efforts to preserve the natural landscape,” said Hoai.
Tien Yen has five provincial-level tourist attractions: Tien Yen Market, the Cultural and Sports Center for Northeast Ethnic Minorities, Hoang Can Temple, Pac Sui Waterfall, and Tien Yen Pedestrian Street. The district has organized several tourism promotion activities including food fairs, the “One Commune One Product” (OCOP) program, trade fairs of regional agricultural products, and the Vietnam-China International Trade Fair.

Pham Hai Quynh, Director of the Asian Development Institute, said: “Tien Yen is like a miniature Quang Ninh. It has several cultural attractions. Its night market has been operating since 2017. Its old town has French architecture. I hope Tien Yen will re-standardize its historical relics and preserve indigenous cultural values.”
The district is also promoting connectivity with domestic and international tourism companies to offer distinctive cultural and experiential tourism products for community tourism development.
