(VOVWORLD) - At the 50th session of the UN Human Rights Council, Vietnam delivered a meaningful message about ensuring equality and rights for all. Vietnam made important contributions to the Council’s meeting in Geneva from June 13 to July 8.

The 50th session of the UN Human Rights Council took place amid countries’ gradual reopening and recovering in post-COVID although the pandemic’s socio-economic effects are still affecting the exercise of human rights of people around the world.
At the Council’s session, Vietnam drew international attention with its initiatives to ensure human rights in climate change response and the right to food and gender equality, and promote dialogues and cooperation.
The Vietnamese delegation shared Vietnam’s experience in responding to the COVID-19 pandemic, recovering the economy post-COVID, and ensuring people’s right to health care and education. Vietnam also shared its experience in climate change response, and upholding women’s role in the family. Vietnam reiterated its commitment to promote gender equality and women empowerment.
Vietnam organized a photo exhibition called “Vietnamese ethnic groups and religions - harmony in diversity” at UN headquarters in Geneva.
The exhibition showcased Vietnamese culture, natural heritages, the customs of Vietnamese ethnic groups, and the freedom of religion and belief of Vietnamese people.
The exhibition delivered a message of harmony in diversity, respect, understanding, dialogue, and cooperation to ensure equality and the rights of all people.

All 54 Vietnamese ethnic groups and religious and non-religious people live in harmony and unite to overcome challenges and move toward a brighter future. The exhibition reflected Vietnam’s commitment, achievements, and efforts to ensure and promote human rights.
Vietnam is now running for a seat on the UN Human Rights Council in the 2023-2025 tenure. Its activities at the 50th session of the Council demonstrated its determination to strengthen mutual understanding, mutual respect, dialogue, and cooperation to ensure rights for all.
At the session, the Vietnamese delegation met the President and Vice President of the UN Human Rights Council, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, and the Director General of the UN Office in Geneva, who praised Vietnam’s achievements and efforts to overcome the difficulties of the pandemic to better ensure human rights.
Exhibition visitors expressed their interest in the harmony of Vietnam’s 54 ethnic and religious groups and agreed that harmony in diversity is the prime reason for Vietnam’s impressive socio-economic achievements. Foreign diplomats expressed their belief that if elected, Vietnam will contribute a lot to the Council and to international efforts to protect and promote human rights.
