(VOVworld) – The National Great Unity Festival on November 18 will encompass activities nationwide. The festival honors the tradition of patriotism and promotes unity movements organized by the Vietnam Fatherland Front.

The Vietnam Great Unity Festival coincides with the 85^th anniversary of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, VFF. Since 1941 the Front has played an important role in promoting the power and patriotism of the Vietnamese people for national liberation and development.

Social oversight and criticism

The Vietnam Fatherland Front serves as a bridge between the Party, State, and people. Besides relaying information, the Front has engaged deeply in social oversight and criticism. VFF President Nguyen Thien Nhan says: “Oversight monitors law enforcement and compliance in State agencies, Party units, and local administration. The Front organizes oversight programs and presents monitoring results to agencies and the administration for feedback.”

Since the activation of the 2013 Constitution in 2014, the VFF has collaborated with ministries and sectors to organize 8 oversight programs on the implementation of health insurance and social insurance policies among enterprises; the supply of agricultural materials to farmers; the performance of private health centers; resolving people’s complaint and denunciation; administrative reform in the customs sector to improve service quality; the law on science and technology and the Party Central Committee’s resolution on scientific and technological development; people’s satisfaction with 6 public services in 20 provinces and cities; and food safety and hygiene.

 Organizing patriotic emulation movements and enhancing national unity

The Vietnam Fatherland Front has launched several movements to promote patriotism nationwide including “All people unite to build a cultural lifestyle”, “Vietnamese prioritize to Vietnamese products”, and “Day for the poor”. Mr. Nhan again: “Reviewing the movement ‘All people unite to build a cultural lifestyle’ and the Front’s involvement in developing new rural areas, the Front will launch a new movement to rally all people in building new rural areas and cultural urban lifestyle. We’ll work out specific tasks and targets.”

The Front will boost the movement “Vietnamese prioritize Vietnamese products” with new goals for the global integration period. The Front will launch a movement to inspire the creativity of employees at work, considering it a momentum for national development.
