Vietnam introduces "National Park Passport" initiative

In the initial phase, the national park passports will be good for 34 national parks within the special-use forest system that offer tourism activities. Both domestic and foreign tourists can obtain a paper or electronic national park passport.

Nguyen Van Thai, Director of the Center for Wildlife Conservation in Vietnam, said: “The Vietnam Association of National Parks and Conservation Areas will be responsible for issuing them. Electronic passports will be available on websites. We are also developing an app that will provide information about all of Vietnam’s national parks and tourist spots within the parks.”

In the long term, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development intends to widely promote ecotourism through apps, passports, and media channels. This initiative is expected to increase visitor numbers, enhance the variety of experiences, and allow tourists to accumulate points.

Tran Quang Bao, Director of the Department of Forestry, said: “National park passports attract both domestic and international tourists to experience nature and raise their awareness of environmental and nature protection. This attract investments and supports forest protection, contributing to biodiversity conservation and promoting Vietnam’s image globally.”

The "National Park Passport" initiative aims to create sustainable financial sources for national parks and nature reserves in Vietnam, marking an important step towards the conservation and sustainable development of the forests.
