(VOVworld)-The 4^th industrial revolution was a major topic at the recent Government’s monthly meeting for March. Cabinet members suggested measures to make the best of this revolution.

The world has experienced 3 industrial revolutions with important technological inventions such as the steam engine in the 18^th century, electricity in the 19^th century and electronics, IT and automation in the 20^th century. Now a 4^th industrial revolution is building on the 3^rd, the digital revolution that has been occurring since the middle of the last century. It is characterized by a fusion of technologies that is blurring the lines between the physical, digital, and biological spheres. The breadth and depth of these changes herald the transformation of entire systems of production, management, and governance.

In response to the 4^th industrial revolution, Vietnam has managed to restructure the economy, reform the growth model, and improve growth quality, productivity and economic competitiveness. Vietnam has tried to ensure a balance between short-term and long-term goals and between economic growth and environmental protection, social equality, social welfare, poverty reduction, and the quality of life. Improving its human resources and scientific and technological capabilities is one of Vietnam’s strategic goals. The Government has pursued policies on job generation, vocational training, and credit support for low-income people, focusing on vocational training for young people in rural areas, farmers, people with disabilities, women, and ethnic minorities. Resources have been allocated for applying technology in rural and mountainous regions and green growth has been promoted through tighter supervision and control of industrial production. The Government considers businesses the center of the national innovation system and has invested heavily in research to improve domestic technological capabilities. Priority has been given to supporting startups and renovating state management. High-tech is being applied to public services to streamline administrative procedures and secure the tranparency of state agencies. Vietnam is gearing up to build an enabling government and implement an e-government project to reduce costs and create favorable conditions for individuals and businesses.
