In the first 3 months of 2024, the tourism sector welcomed 4.6 million foreigners, 72% more than in the first quarter last year and 3.2% more than in the first quarter of 2019, just before the pandemic. Vietnamese tourism – especially domestic tourism – has been recovering.

The Hanoi Department of Tourism has created programs to promote the image of Vietnam and its capital Hanoi, according to Deputy Director Nguyen Hong Minh.

“We have conducted promotional activities in collaboration with other localities. Foreign tourists mainly visit Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, so advertising on international channels is very important. We have run ads on international media channels like CNN and social platforms like Facebook and Zalo. Ads on social networks draw many visitors,” said Minh.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism said that this year’s tourism promotion has focused on three key venues: the World Travel Mart, the China International Travel Mart, and the ASEAN-China Fair.

Other programs will introduce Vietnamese tourism and culture in North America, Australia, China, Europe, ASEAN, India, and several Southeast Asian countries. Tourism promotion in the US will take advantage of movies filmed in Vietnam.

“Promoting tourist destinations is very important. Tourists often seek sights and experiences that their country doesn’t offer. Vietnam is a good place for Westerners to discover interesting nature, culture, and other attractions. We provide specific information about tourist destinations and attractions to lure a big numbers of foreign tourists,” said Nguyen Chau A, General Director of Oxalis Adventure.

The tourism sector is ready to serve 18 million foreign visitors and 110 million domestic visitors this year.
