The fair is being held at two venues, the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center in District 7 and at White Palace Pham Van Dong in Thu Duc city. For the first time the annual expo has a “Create Hall” dedicated to introducing breakthrough design and creativity in the furniture industry.
Tran Quoc Manh, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Sadaco Company, said his company is completing the Sustainable Forest Certificate and participating in commitments on net zero emissions.
"Vietnam's commitment to net zero emissions poses challenges for the timber industry. Timber processing businesses need to work very hard. Zero emission means zero dust," said Manh.
Vu Ba Phu, Director of the Trade Promotion Department at the Ministry of Industry and Trade, said the Ministry has adopted several policies to support businesses in green and digital transformation.
Mr. Phu said: "In addition to increasing connections, we also provide information and training to raise awareness of wooden furniture manufacturers. We coordinate with other ministries, branches, and Vietnamese trade offices abroad to provide information about importing countries' requirements concerning green standards and sustainable development to help businesses overcome barriers and access foreign markets."
Last year, the global wood industry faced many difficulties, but there have been signs of recovery. In January Vietnam's wood industry earned 1.5 billion USD. Many businesses have recovered 80-90% of their capacity. Some have received orders until April or May.
