Whole nation joins efforts to help pandemic victims

(VOVWORLD) - COVID-19 has spread to many localities across Vietnam with Bac Ninh and Bac Giang provinces being hardest hit. Organizations and individuals nationwide are joining hands to help those affected by the pandemic.

In response to a call from the Ministry of Health, hospitals nationwide have sent thousands of medical workers to aid the fight against COVID-19 in Bac Ninh and Bac Giang provinces. Nguyen Tan Hung leads a team of health workers from Da Nang city to Bac Giang.

'This is a great honor for us. We hope we can help Bac Giang contain the epidemic quickly. We were once hit by COVID-19, so we understand the difficulties and hardships.' said Hung.

The HCM Youth Union launched a program on Friday to deliver aid to people in Bac Ninh, Bac Giang, and Dien Bien provinces. 10 trucks carrying supplies have already reached their destinations.

Ngoc Anh Duong, a member of the Hanoi Pickup Trucks Club, said, 'During the pandemic, we have transported goods to hospitals and quarantine centers in Bac Ninh and Bac Giang. These goods include protective gear to ensure health safety.'

Individuals and organizations in Hanoi have helped Bac Giang farmers sell their produce. Nguyen Hoang Thu of Hanoi’s Ba Dinh district said, 'Due to the pandemic, they cannot leave the province to sell their products. Giving them a hand in the midst of their difficulties has made them very happy.'

The Viettel Group has donated broadband data services worth 1.7 million USD to customers in COVID-19-hit areas in Bac Ninh and Bac Giang. The company has also pledged free telephone service for frontline workers and people working in quarantine areas.
