Workers urged to prepare for post-epidemic period

(VOVWORLD) - Due to social distancing to curb the spread of COVID-19, many businesses have slowed or closed down, and many workers have lost their jobs. They are advised to start preparing now for the post-epidemic period.
As the COVID-19 epidemic continues to spread, social distancing has been imposed in many areas, causing businesses to close and lay off their workers. Nguyen Ngoc Dinh of the Viet TN Joint Stock Company, which specializes in labor consultancy, said: "We need to strictly observe social distancing and guidelines on disease prevention to protect ourselves and the community. But we also need to prepare for the future and think about what we will do when the epidemic is over. We need to prepare financially, stay healthy, and get ready to work again."
The government has implemented several measures including an aid package worth 2.6 billion USD to support the poor, the unemployed, social beneficiaries, and household businesses that have had to suspend their operation, but workers should prepare for their future immediately, according to Mr. Dinh: "Workers need to think about what company they might want to apply to and learn more about that company. They can seek information and advice from professional labor consultancy agencies. At the same time, they should be improving their skills and learning a foreign language."
Covid-19 is hurting businesses nationwide and putting pressures on the labor market, but the government is working closely with the Ministry of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs and businesses to create jobs for workers after the epidemic is over.
