Vietnam has more than 1.7 million students who are members of the Vietnamese Students Association. They are an energetic, elite force with talents and aspirations. They are also intellectuals and an important human resource to serve national construction and defense.

Aspirations to build the future

In each stage of development, Vietnamese students have always contributed to the cause of national construction and defense.

Vietnamese students have continued to promote their advantages and good traditions of their predecessors, study hard, do scientific research, and actively acquire science and technology advantages to form a generation of dynamic, sensitive, and knowledgeable students.

Students care for and demonstrate a sense of responsibility for the homeland and external affairs and actively participate in social activities, including volunteer activities organized by the Youth Union and Associations. Most students have nurtured their dreams, ambitions, and will to achieve their goals and lead a beautiful and useful life.

Hoang Le Quynh Loan, Vice President of the Hong Duc University Student Association, said: “I want to become a young Gen Z person with enthusiasm, creativity, eagerness to learn, and ambition to conquer my dreams. My ideal model is a global student. Besides the three criteria of thinking, attitude, and ability to become a global student, I also set an additional criterion for myself of maintaining national identity. Good traditional values, preserved and promoted, will help us remember who we are, where we are, and how proud we are to be young Vietnamese people.”

Giap Van Phuong, a student at Thai Nguyen University of Technology, said: “We will try to fulfill our student tasks, study hard, and develop the country to a higher level to stand on par with countries in ASEAN and the world. We’ll continuously learn and follow the example of President Ho Chi Minh.”

Students must be masters of knowledge, science, and technology

At the 11^th National Congress of the Vietnamese Students Association on Tuesday, President Vo Van Thuong said the Party and State consider the youth and students a great social force, an important factor in determining the future and destiny of the nation.

Vietnam has adopted several policies on education and training to promote the desire of students to uphold the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation. 

The President said the assets for students to begin their career are knowledge, dignity, national heroic traditions, the noble values of Vietnamese culture, and a spirit of righteousness, kindness, peace, filial piety, friendship, and respect for other nations.

These traditions and pride need to be absorbed by every student, so that each student will be proud and confident in beginning their own life and entering the world.

President Vo Van Thuong said: “Only by studying well can you become a talented, high-quality human resource for the country and develop your career. Learning must go hand in hand with practice in a spirit of scientific and technological advancement. The Students Association should create a learning and scientific research environment, encourage, help, and orient students to have the right awareness and attitude to learning. The Association's movements and activities should support and promote students’ active role. Students and young intellectuals must become the future masters of knowledge, science, and technology.”

Students are a complement to the intellectual class and an important human resource for national industrialization and modernization. Their desires and enthusiasm are the foundation for building the country in the new era.
