(VOVWORLD) - 1,000 delegates representing more than 30 million young people nationwide are attending the 11th National Congress of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union. Taking place from Sunday to Wednesday, the congress is an important political event and a festival of Vietnamese youths.
With the theme “Promoting youth unity, creativity, and growth”, the congress aims to diversify its activities in order to become the vanguard in national development.
Youth’s role in national development strengthened
In the last five years, several policies have been in place to promote the role of the youths. Under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Youth Union organizations have grown and Youth Union members have shown their responsibility for families and society. Learning about education increases the youths’ trust in the Party leadership and inspires their patriotism and national pride.
Youth Union movements have demonstrated young people’s volunteerism and creativity in boosting socio-economic development, ensuring national defense, enhancing national industrialization and modernization and international integration. Le Quoc Phong is First Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union: "Youth Union activities to inspire youths to further studying and startups have been diversified to attract more membership. Young people are encouraged to share their inspirations and ideas and contribute to Youth Union activities.”
In the last 5 years, more than 16 million Youth Union members participated in Youth Union activities.
Vietnamese youths to become stronger, more innovative
The Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union intends to continue to reform its activities and associate them with national socio-economic development targets. Volunteer activities will be the core of promoting the role and energy of youths. The organization will also focus on innovative, scientific and technological activities to take advantage of the 4th industrial revolution. Mr. Phong said: "Our activities aim to enhance young Vietnamese people’s revolutionary ideology and trust in the Party and national development. We will discuss ways to promote patriotism, honesty, and self-reliance. In the context of the 4th industrial revolution and Vietnam’s international integration, we will focus on enhancing the youth’s volunteerism, creativity, and vanguard role.”
Youth Union organizations have supported the youths in studying, doing business, and sharpening their skills as well as enhancing their responsibility for challenges and difficulties in national construction and defense.
