A bridge connecting Binh Duong and Tay Ninh was inaugurated in early 2023

More investment poured into transportation infrastructure

The overpass at intersection 550 passing Di An and Thuan An city, Binh Duong province, opened to traffic in earlier 2023 after nearly a year of construction. The bridge which cost 115 billion VND (more than 4.7 million USD) is more than 203 meters long and has 4 lanes. Intersection 550 connects many industrial parks in the province, and is a traffic hub to Dong Nai and Ho Chi Minh City. Previously it resulted in frequent traffic jams. The new overpass will help improve the traffic situation in this area.

Mr. Le Van Huu, a resident in Binh Duong, said: “For many years, this intersection was a ‘hot spot’ for traffic jams. Since the overpass was put into operation, no traffic congestion has been reported here.”

People and businesses in Binh Duong province were excited with the expansion of road DT.746’s section from Tan Thanh intersection in Bac Tan Uyen district to Hoi Nghia intersection in Tan Uyen town. The new section has 6 lanes and is 11.4 kilometers long. It is the main route into Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park III but it was previously very narrow, making it difficult to transport goods.

The province’s efforts to expanding the section has received strong support from local people. More than 1,000 households handed over their land to expand the road.

Ms. Truong Thi Minh Trang, a local in Residential Area 5 in Hoi Nghia ward, said: “With the expanded road, we hope that our residential area will be on a par with other neighborhoods of Hoi Nghia ward. We believe the area will change significantly and people will have more opportunities for economic development.”

In order to further develop local transportation infrastructure, Binh Duong is continuing to implement a Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) project to upgrade and expand National Highway 13. There are also projects to improve the landscape and prevent traffic congestion on My Phuoc-Tan Van road, complete the Bac Tan Uyen-Phu Giao-Bau Bang road, and upgrade other roads (DT.746, DT.747B, DT.743). To speed up the implementation of transportation projects, leaders of Binh Duong province have established working groups to monitor and direct the implementation of a number of important transportation projects.

Ms. Nguyen Thi My Hang, Secretary of Phu Giao District’s Party Committee, said people are looking forward to the completion of the Bac Tan Uyen-Phu Giao-Bau Bang road. Local authorities at all levels are closely monitoring the construction, quickly removing bottlenecks, and striving to complete the road section through Phu Giao by December this.

Ms. Hang said: “This is a very important road passing through the Phu Giao area. With the determination of the district Party Committee and people of Phu Giao, the project progress is accelerating and is expected to be completed ahead of schedule.”

Promoting regional connectivity

To generate motivation for inter-regional development, in addition to putting into use the bridge connecting road DT.744 of Dau Tieng town in Dau Tieng district with the Dat Set-Ben Cui road in Duong Minh Chau district, Tay Ninh and Binh Duong provinces are focusing their efforts on promoting several other projects. These include Ring Road 3, Ring Road 4, and the Ho Chi Minh City-Thu Dau Mot-Chon Thanh expressway. They are also coordinating with localities to implement the Bach Dang 2 bridge project connecting Binh Duong‑Dong Nai and upgrade Binh Trieu 1 bridge on the Saigon River connecting to Ho Chi Minh City.

Vo Van Minh, Chairman of the Binh Duong Provincial People’s Committee, said that Binh Duong is implementing multiple many measures to have sufficient resources to invest in its transportation infrastructure.

“The province will review and auction a number of public land funds and develop urban areas and residential areas along roads in order to collect land use fees. Social resources are very important to infrastructure construction. The province continues to implement the BOT project on National Highway 13 and OM, BOT projects on the My Phuoc-Tan Van route to mobilize investment. We will mobilize investors to engage in the construction of infrastructure for industrial parks by building roads passing through industrial parks and urban areas,” said Mr. Minh.

Transportation projects have been gradually completed, changing the facelift of Binh Duong and clearing bottlenecks in the province’s socio-economic development, and also promoting linkages to enhance the local development thus creating strategic breakthroughs as set out at the 11th Binh Duong Provincial Party Congress.
