Domestic passenger terminal T3 at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in HCMC will officially be operational in about a week, ahead of schedule. Workers in the construction site have been racing against time to finish their work on time.
A worker named Doan Phu Tu said that they have been working day and night to meet the deadline. “Now it’s almost done. All the workers have tried our best to ensure completion,” said Tu.
Once Terminal T3 is put into operation, the airport's capacity will increase to 20 million passengers per year, improving Vietnam’s aviation service. The project's completion is an important milestone in the strategic development of Vietnam’s aviation infrastructure.
Tran Ngoc Long, Deputy Director of the Project Management Board, told VOV that the terminal’s structural part is fully completed, while 99% of the architectural construction has been finished. The aviation equipment, conveyor belts, boarding bridges, and tube bridges have all been fully installed and are in the testing phase.
“As planned, the first test flights will take place on Thursday and official flights one week later. The inauguration is set for April 30,” said Long.

The North-South expressway, the section running through Quang Binh province, is gradually taking form, with the final components being rushed to get them completed for the technical opening of the main route on April 30.
Luu Tuan Tuan, a member of the Ho Chi Minh Road Project Management Board and the investor representative for the Van Ninh-Cam Lo component project, said, “To overcome delays posed by the weather, we’re accelerating construction by working in three shifts at all sites before the April 30 deadline.”
Several other key national projects are set to be operational by April 30. These include the component projects of the North-South expressway – the Bai Vot-Ham Nghi section, the Ham Nghi-Vung Ang section, and the Van Phong-Nha Trang section; the Rach Mieu 2 Bridge; and the underground tunnel linking the Long Thanh-Dau Giay expressway and Mai Chi Tho street in Ho Chi Minh City.
Groundbreaking and inauguration ceremonies will be held simultaneously in the Northern, Central, and Southern region on Saturday.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh |
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, during a recent government meeting, urged all provinces and cities to take the highest level of responsibility and strive to complete all projects on schedule. “All construction units nationwide must uphold this spirit: only discuss ways to move forward, don’t backtrack. Ministries, agencies, and localities must work closely with each other, and the central government and local authorities must coordinate with each other to accomplish the tasks,” said Mr Chinh.
The inauguration of major national projects on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South will give Vietnam a new image and stature after five decades of reunification. These newly completed projects will play a vital role in socio-economic development, create new growth spaces, and enhance the competitiveness of the national economy.
