Great holiday getaway – Phuoc Tich village Friday, January 16, 2015 | 15:27:46 (VOV) - Dating back five centuries the village of Phuoc Tich, located by the bank of O Lau River about 50km from Hue City in central Thua Thien-Hue province, is a great holiday destination. It is not only well-known for its ancient ‘ruong’ houses but also beloved for its pottery with many time worn pottery kilns still preserved by local people and its picturesque surroundings. It was awarded UNESCO national heritage status in 2009. It lies by the bank of O Lau River. There are more than twenty century old ‘nha ruong’ houses with wooden pillars and beams. The ancient village is also known for its numerous clan ancestral houses. The ancestral houses are decorated with noble symbols such as the dragon and phoenix. Phuoc Tich village is home to many pagodas and temples. Tourists are impressed by the village’s brick roads and green trees. Hand-made pottery attracts many visitors.
