Ha Giang prepares for Buckwheat Flower Festival
(VOV) - The
Buckwheat (Fagopyrum Esculentum) flower festival will take place in four
districts of Dong Van, Quan Ba, Yen Minh and Meo Vac of the northern
mountainous province of Ha Giang on November 13-15.

Dong Van Karst Plateau in Ha Giang has recently emerged as a destination for local and foreign tourists. Apart from the Dong Van Karst Plateau Geo-Park which is recognised as the world’s heritage site, buckwheat flowers are also a speciality of the region. |

Ha Giang is in its tourism season with a carpet of purple and pink colours on the mountain side. |

Buckwheat is a food plant which is intercropped with soya bean. |

Buckwheat flowers began to blossom in late autumn. However, they are still seen after the Lunar New Year festival. |

The plant is grown all year round by the H’Mong ethnic minorities for food. |

Buckwheat flowers have light pink, white and purple colours. Its seeds can make food and wine. |
