(VOVworld) – VOVworld brings you several pictures featuring nature and people of Ha Long during the period from 1885-1953. Some of them have not been published before.
On 27th April 2012, the Ministry of Culture, Sport and Tourism together with the Quang Ninh People’s Committee held a ceremony to name Ha Long Bay as one of the New7Wonders of Nature. It is a great pride for the nation as the Bay is once again recognized internationally for its spectacular beauty and unique values.
On this occasion, photo collector – Architect Doan Bac (born in 175 in Hanoi) introduced to the public rare pictures of Ha Long taken more than a century ago. It is part of the project namely “Discover Ha Long Bay – a glance through 3 centuries” that Architect Doan Bac is working on with his associates.
From a collection of more than 7,000 pictures of Vietnam taken from 1860 to 1954 entitled “Precious Memory”, Doan Bac has selected 150 pictures of nature and people of Ha Long taken from 1885 to 1953. Most of the pictures were taken by French photographers and many of them have been made public.
Earlier, Bac’s photo collection of ancient Ha Long Bay was on display at an exhibition in Hanoi’s Opera House as part of the reception to thank foreign embassies, diplomatic corps and international organizations and individuals for promoting Ha Long Bay to the world.
