(VOVworld) - Tank number 390 crashed through the gates of Independence Palace, the last stronghold of the Sai Gon regime at noon on April 30, 1975, heralding the end of the war. Tank 390 was manned by four soldiers: commander Vu Dang Toan, first gunner Ngo Sy Nguyen, second gunner Le Van Phuong, and driver Nguyen Van Tap. 42 years on, the tank is a witness to history and recognized as a national treasure. It is now in the Tank and Armour Museum at Hoang Quoc Viet street, Hanoi. Replicas of the machine are also on display at Ho Chi Minh City's Reunification Palace.
