Unique Banh Chung made from salmon goes on sale ahead of Tet

(VOVWORLD) - A restaurant located on Ngoc Khanh street in Ba Dinh district of Hanoi has launched a type of Banh Chung, a square glutinous rice cake, that uses salmon rather than pork, to mark the upcoming Lunar New Year or Tet.
Due to the items fresh flavour it is proving to be a favourite among customers. |
A representative from the restaurant notes that a pair of Banh Chung with salmon costs a total of VND580,000. |
Green tea powder is poured into glutinous rice in order to create an eye-catching flavour and colour within the cake itself. |
As is traditional in Banh Chung, the cake is made from familiar ingredients such as sticky rice, green beans, peppers, and la dong, also known as dong leaves. |
This unique type of Banh Chung is being sold to mark the beginning of the final lunar month of the year. |
The restaurant plans to put 1,000 cakes on sale ahead of Tet. |
The restaurant owner first began making a recipe for the cake two years ago. |
A single cake weighs approximately 1kg and is boiled for 12 hours. |
Each cake can be eaten within 15 days of purchasing. |
