32 countries confirm attendance at BRICS Summit

(VOVWORLD) - 32 countries have confirmed their participation at the BRICS summit in Russia's city of Kazan on October 22-24, said Russian Presidential aide Yury Ushakov on Thursday.
24 delegations will be led by the heads of state, Ushakov said, adding that UN chief Antonio Guterres will also take part.
The BRICS Summit is the main event of more than 200 political, economic and social events Russia intends to host during its 2024 BRICS chairmanship. Russian President Vladimir Putin will hold about 20 bilateral talks on the sidelines of the summit.
High on the agenda are energy and food security challenges, the use of national currencies in bilateral and multilateral trade, the expansion of BRICS, and cooperation in science, technology and environmental protection.
