(VOVWORLD) - The “Action Month for the Environment” was launched across Vietnam to renew efforts to protect the environment and natural resources.

On Wednesday, Quang Ninh Province held a meeting to mark “World Environment Day” on June 5, “World Oceans Day” on June 8, and “Vietnam Seas and Islands Week”. Together over 600 officers, soldiers and people in Quang Yen Town cleaned up the surroundings of the Ha Nam sea dike, a national-level dike with a length of 33 kilometers in Quang Ninh Province.
Doan Duy Vinh, Director of the Environmental Protection Department of Quang Ninh Province, said: “We’ll assess the situation of land pollution and pollution risks and remedy the land in line with regulations. We’ll improve environmental protection activities, plant forests, more effectively use land resources, and develop livelihoods for the people.”

Also on Wednesday, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Son La Province observed “World Environment Day” and launched the “Action Month for the Environment”.
The provincial Youth Union organized a festival of exchanging paper and plastic products for trees at the Son La City’s central market.
