The Global Innovation Index 2024 ranks Vietnam 44th among 133 countries and economies, up 2 places compared to 2023. Vietnam has 3 leading indicators in the world: high-tech import, high-tech export, and creative goods export. Sarah Mamiese said Vietnam has great potential to improve its innovation capacity and compete in the global high-tech market.

“Vietnam is affirming itself as one of the leading countries in innovation. Vietnam ranks second in the Innovation Index among 38 middle-income countries. It can be said that the renewal process has put the country on a growth trajectory. Since 2022, the Vietnamese Government has identified science, technology, and innovation development a major national policy. Since then many strategic breakthroughs have been recorded.”

Mamiese added that in the innovation process, Vietnam also faces many challenges, including reconciling economic development with environmental protection. It’s necessary to conduct practical research in an innovative approach to find truly effective solutions, avoid innovation traps, and master innovation for a better future, she said.
