Deputy PM Binh, who is Chairman of the 2024 Amnesty Advisory Council, emphasized that the amnesty process had been conducted with great caution, ensuring the proper implementation of the Party and State's humane and lenient policies. Statistics show that the rate of recidivism in Vietnam is significantly lower compared to many other countries.

"The selection of individuals for amnesty was carried out cautiously, creating opportunities for prisoners to return to their families and communities to rebuild their lives. Those pardoned have made efforts to turn over a new leaf," said Deputy PM Binh.

According to the President’s 2024 amnesty decision, 3,763 prisoners serving sentences and two individuals with temporarily suspended sentences will be freed this year. Since 2009, over 90,000 prisoners in Vietnam have benefited from amnesty.
