To Lam and his entourage were welcomed at the airport by a number of senior Cuban officials, including Roberto Morales Ojeda, Permanent member of the Secretariat of the Communist Party of Cuba Central Committee, and Alvaro Lopez Miera, Minister of the Revolutionary Armed Forces. Vietnamese Ambassador to Cuba Nguyen Hoang Long and embassy staff were also present at the airport.

The Vietnamese top leader is scheduled to hold talks and have meetings with Cuba’s key leaders, pay floral tribute to President Ho Chi Minh and Cuban national hero Jose Martí, visit a number of economic establishments, and meet Cuban friends and young people of the two countries.

The visit, which takes place as the two countries are preparing to celebrate 65 years of diplomatic relations in 2025, reaffirms Vietnam’s solidarity and special friendship with Cuba. It also emphasized the foreign policy outlined by the 13th National Party Congress, which places great importance on and constantly seeks to develop relations with traditional friends.

“The visit demonstrates the willingness of the Party and State of Vietnam and the Party and State of Cuba to continue strengthening mutual understanding and coordination in international issues. Both sides will discuss ways to enhance multi-faceted cooperation, including economic and trade collaboration,” said Head of the Party Central Committee’s External Relations Commission, Le Hoai Trung.
