ASEAN, India to review free trade pact in goods

(VOVWORLD) - India and the ASEAN have agreed to review their free trade agreement signed in 2009.

At a meeting between ASEAN economic ministers and Indian Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal in Bangkok on Tuesday, both sides agreed to establish a joint committee for this purpose. “The Ministers agreed to initiate the review of the ASEAN-India trade in goods agreement to make it more user-friendly, simple, and facilitative for businesses,” said a joint media statement issued after the meeting. The Ministers tasked officials with reviewing the details of the agreement and submitting an update at the next ministerial meeting.
