Cat Hai fishing village marks 57th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh’s visit

(VOVworld) – A ceremony was held in Hai Phong on Thursday to mark the 57th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh’s visit to Cat Hai fishing village and the founding anniversary of Vietnam’s fisheries sector.

The ceremony was followed by a tour of Cat Ba island, one of Vietnams 3 biggest islands. Pham Van Ha, Chairman of the Cat Hai district People’s Committee, said: “We are doing what we can to turn Cat Ba into a green island and an important tourist site and seaport of Hai Phong and northern Vietnam.”

Cat Hai expects to welcome 1.6 million tourists in 2016, generating 40 million USD from tourism and services. Tourist Vu Dang Hai said: “Cat Ba has become a famous tourist destination in Hai Phong. The local scenery is beautiful, the water is pristine, and the seafood is delicious and inexpensive. The local people are very hospitable.”
