(VOVworld) - The Vietnamese Embassy in Beijing hosted a ceremony on Tuesday to mark the 66th anniversary of Vietnam – China diplomatic ties on January 18. Speaking at the event, Vietnamese Ambassador Dang Minh Khoi said that Vietnam – China ties progressed positively last year, evidenced by a number of visits by senior leaders. He said Vietnam attaches special importance to and wishes to foster the neighborliness and comprehensive cooperation with China. He hoped that the bilateral ties will be lifted to a new level this year. Both sides agreed to settle the East Sea issue via friendly negotiations in line with international law and agreements reached by the two countries’ leaders, as well as seek basic and long-term measures that are mutually acceptable.

Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister Kong Xuanyou said that China wishes to promote mutually-beneficial collaboration with Vietnam, and deal with differences for the benefit of the two peoples.

To mark the occasion, a photo and painting exhibition called “Vietnam – endless beauty” is now open in Beijing until this Sunday.
