China, Indonesia strengthen links

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi held talks with his Indonesian counterpart Marty Natalegawa in Jakarta on Thursday to boost bilateral ties. They agreed that the two countries’ relations have potential for expansion. Both sides should utilize their opportunities to strengthen comprehensive strategic cooperation, particularly in trade, navigation, and energy, to serve the interests of both peoples, contributing to regional and world peace and international development.

Wang promised that China would continue its efforts to promote cooperation with ASEAN countries in the interests of regional peace, stability, development, and prosperity. Regarding issues in the East Sea, Wang said China wanted to settle the disputes peacefully by consultations with parties concerned and is ready to negotiate the Code of Conduct of Parties in the East Sea.
