China, Japan, South Korea discuss Korean peninsula’s tension

China, Japan and South Korea exchanged views about North Korea at their 5th tripartite summit on Monday in Beijing.

The three nations agreed that the  recent North Korean nuclear test was unacceptable. South Korean President Lee Myung Bak said the three countries will not accept any further nuclear tests or provocations from Pyongyang. Japan’s Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda said that they will step up efforts to prevent future North Korean provocations. Chinese Premier Wen Jianbao said all parties must be calm and show good will to resolve conflicts peacefully and return to the negotiating table. Wen also called for continued efforts for the denuclearization of the Korean peninsula via six-party talks.
