PM Chinh emphasized that as Long Thanh Airport is a major, nationally important project, all parties involved must work more aggressively to basically complete the facility before the end next year to celebrate the 14th National Party Congress, 50 years of national reunification, and the 80th anniversary of National Day.
To this end, construction of the airport’s second runway, Long Thanh Airport city, and roads connecting Bien Hoa, Long Thanh, and Tan Son Nhat airports should be accelerated, he said.
The 16 billion USD Long Thanh Airport project is implemented in three phases. The first phase, which includes a runway and a passenger terminal, is capable of serving 25 million passengers and 1.2 million tonnes of cargo per year. It is expected to be put into service by 2026.
While inspecting the progress of the Bien Hoa-Vung Tau expressway, PM Chinh requested that relevant parties work around the clock and that Dong Nai authorities mobilize all forces available to support the construction.
The first phase of the 723 million USD project was launched in June 2023. It is scheduled to be completed by late 2025 and open to traffic in the following year.
