China, South Korea establish military hotline

The Korean press reported Wednesday that the Defense Ministries of Korea and China have agreed to establish a hotline between their defense chiefs. A Korean Defense Ministry spokesman said the agreement is an effort to strengthen military cooperation for regional stability. It is the first time the two countries have established a top-level defense channel. The two nations set up direct hotlines in 2008 between their navies and air forces to prevent accidental clashes at sea and in the air.
