The male patient, 46, is the father and husband of two other coronavirus patients in Ha Loi village in Hanoi’s outlying district of Me Linh. He was transferred to a concentrated quarantine camp on April 8 and showed flu-like symptoms of a high temperature, a sore throat and fatigue five days later.

Hanoi’s Ha Loi village continues to be the coronavirus hotspot when 13 local residents have been now confirmed to carry the deadly SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes the COVID-19 disease. The capital has imposed a lockdown on the village, affecting more than 11,000 residents. Health authorities are conducting field epidemiological investigations.

As of 06.00am Wednesday, Vietnam has reported a total of 267 coronavirus cases, of which 168 have been discharged from hospital after recovery. Wednesday saw a record 22 patients released from hospital, the largest number in a single day.
