Da Nang among world’s 100 resilient cities against climate change
(VOVworld) – Da Nang is one of the first 33 cities selected to the 100 Resilient Cities Centennial Challenge launched by the US’s Rockefeller Foundation. The cities were chosen from nearly 400 applicants. The foundation will provide Da Nang city with 1 million USD in aid, and the expertise, experience, and resources needed to build a climate change resilience strategy for the 21st century.

Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People’s Committee Phung Tan Viet considered this successful application a chance for Da Nang to succeed in climate change response. Viet, who is also Head of the Municipal Steering Committee for Climate Change and Sea Level Rise, told reporters: "We share our experience and learn from the other 32 cities. Being selected requires us to take more responsibility for forecasts and precautions to mitigate loss of life and property. We will soon adopt an action plan with detailed scenarios for fighting natural disasters caused by climate change."
