The Ministry met with IUCN on Monday to seek cooperation to step up EU-sponsored projects to improve coastal ecology in response with climate change. IUCN's project called “Building Resilience to Climate Change Impacts Coastal Southeast Asia” was initiated in September 2011. It has been implemented in the Mekong Delta provinces of Soc Trang, Ben Tre and Kien Giang and Can Gio district in Ho Chi Minh City. Under the project, 80 state officials last year received training on conducting vulnerability assessment. In the future, the IUCN will sign cooperation agreements with the localities to provide locals with effective response to climate change.
