(VOVworld) – State President Truong Tan Sang on Friday presented the Hero of the Armed Forces title to a collective of revolutionaries and 4 former prisoners of Con Dao prison. At a meeting to mark the 38^th anniversary of the liberation of the south and national reunification in the southern province of Ba Ria Vung Tau, President Sang said the distinction honors their loyalty to the Party and their patriotism.

On behalf of the 350 former political prisoners from 35 provinces nationwide, Secretary of Con Dao island district’s Party Committee Trinh Van Lau pledged to uphold the country’s heroic tradition and called for efforts to make Con Dao a venue to educate the younger generations about patriotism and national pride.
