(VOVWORLD) - Fox News reported on Wednesday, citing a source from the US Federal Election Commission, that all 50 states have completed counting ballots and confirmed the final results of the 2024 presidential election.

Republican candidate Donald Trump secured victory with 312 electoral votes, while Democratic candidate Kamala Harris received 226. Under the US law, a candidate must achieve at least 270 out of 538 electoral votes to win the presidency.
Trump achieved decisive wins in seven key battleground states, obtaining all 93 electoral votes in those states. He also led in the popular vote, receiving 72.9 million votes compared to Harris’s 68.2 million, marking his first popular vote lead over a Democratic candidate.
The state electors will meet on December 17 to formally cast their votes, officially confirming Donald Trump as the 47th President of the United States. The Electoral College results will be announced on January 6, 2025, with the inauguration scheduled for January 20, 2025, on Capitol Hill.
Alongside Trump’s victory, the Republican Party has regained a majority in the Senate with at least 52 of 100 seats, although some vote counts remain pending. Results for the House of Representatives are expected shortly.
The US has initiated the power transfer to the new administration, with President-elect Trump forming a transition team to oversee the 75-day handover process.
