Further Vietnam-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership
(VOVworld)- Visiting National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung on Monday evening met Russian Prime Minister Dmitri Medvedev and Chairman of the Russian State Duma Sergey Nayshkin. At his meeting with Medvedev, Hung said the Vietnamese legislative body will do its utmost to further the bilateral friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership with Russia. Chairman Hung urged that the Free Trade Agreement between Vietnam and the Customs Union of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan be approved in the next 2 years to realize the goal of 7 billion USD in two-way trade turnover by 2015.

Prime Minister Medvedev said the legislative bodies from the 2 countries need to further boost cooperative activities, including supervising projects between the two governments.At his meeting with Nayshkin, Hung expressed his delight at the signing of a cooperation agreement between the Vietnamese National Assembly and the Russian Duma, which creates a foundation for further ties between the 2 countries. Hung said: “I am in Russia, bringing with me deep sentiment about the traditional friendship and flourishing cooperation between our countries. Vietnam and Russia are now reaching the climax of cooperation during our renewal process- the comprehensive strategic partnership. I am really pleased that Russia is a very reliable partner of Vietnam.”

Chairman Nayshkin said Russia gives priority to strengthening ties with Vietnam on a par with their established strategic partnership.“Vietnam is a reliable partner of Russia and both countries have upgraded their relationship to a comprehensive strategic partnership. The Russian Duma has 4 parties and all agree that Russia needs to develop and expand cooperative ties with Vietnam in all areas: economic, political and social. Today, we signed a cooperation agreement between the 2 legislative bodies, which will boost the relationship between the two countries", said Nayshkin.
During his visit, Hung also met President of the Russian Communist Party Gennady Zyuganov and President of the Russia-Vietnam Friendship Association Vladimir Buianov.
