In a joint statement released after their two-day meeting in Nikko, Tochigi Prefecture, the G7 gender equality ministers agreed to continue working to realize a society where the human rights and dignity of minorities are respected.
The statement said the COVID-19 pandemic was "a serious obstacle" to achieving a gender-equal society.
It was the first time Japan has hosted the G7 meeting on gender issues.
